Military excercise ELITE: 03. - 17. JULY 2008 - active until thursday before Tannkosh! (ends thursday 17.07. at 14:00 local time)

A considerable part of southern german airspace will be restricted for general aviation during the ELITE military excercise. Fighter jets and large transport aircraft as well as helicopters, from all over Europe, will be taking part in this excercise, resulting in heavy military traffic during the published times. Tannheim lies just outside of the restricted areas, but can NOT be approached directly from the west or north. EDMT can be approached from the east (northeast) and southwest, but please take care NOT to enter the restricted areas - there will be military "eyes in the sky" watching overhead and any violation of the restricted areas will be punished with heavy fines (and also very dangerous due to jet traffic). It is also possible to approach Tannheim through Memmingen/Allgäu CTR with clearance (126,85) also please give them a call if you pass close to the CTR. Approaching Tannheim from the Northeast please remain below 1000 ft GND (see area chart ELITE above).

The excercise will END thursday, July 17th, at 14:00 local time.
